Joanna Know Somethin?

I love makeup and kitty cats

All Time Favorites

I guess I should start by introducing myself. My name is Joanna, and I am obsessed with makeup, and beauty products. I thought a good way for you to get to know me would be by doing an “all time favorites” post. The following are makeup and beauty products that I absolutely cannot live without, my “holy grails”, if you will.

This is pretty much all I use on my hair (not including dry shampoo, but I don’t have a particular brand, I buy whatever’s cheap)

Earthly Body Marrakesh Original Shampoo and Conditioner-I have been using this stuff for years and am obsessed. I’m going to be honest with you, I mostly use it for the smell, it is so spicy and intoxicating. Other reasons include, no sulfates, natural oils, and it makes your hair soft, but not too soft.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray-I’m sure most of you have seen this one. It’s a salt water spray. Love it! When I’m feeling lazy (always) I spray this on my hair while it’s dry and then blast it with a blow dryer, instant beachiness.

Osis+ Dust It-This little guy holds a really cool texturizing powder. Sprinkle some in your hands and run it through your hair, it gives you great slept-in texture. I use it daily. It’s a little on the expensive side, but this little bottle lasts a long time. Several other brands are coming out with their own version of the hair powder, NOT THE SAME! Trust me.

Clarisonic Mia- This is pretty self explanatory. Get one. It’s worth it.

Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15- Great simple moisturizer, super lightweight, but very moisturizing. I love it for daytime in the warmer months because it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

DML Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 25- I can’t even begin to explain…..this is my all time favorite ever! This bad boy contains hyaluronic acid, which is super moisturizing because it can hold up to 1,000 times it’s weight in water. A high SPF of 25 is definitely a bonus, and although this is a thicker moisturizer it is not greasy, it melts into your skin instead of just sitting on top of it. Fragrance free and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) for people like me with sensitive skin. If they ever stopped making this stuff, I don’t know what I would do.

Purity face wash by Philosophy- Great cleanser. Very creamy and moisturizing, great for people with normal/combination to dry skin. It is the best makeup remover ever. Will remove all eyeliner and mascara (even waterproof) in one wash. And doesn’t leave you with that tight feeling afterwards

Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel- This product is kind of different. It is a powder that you mix with water and then lather it up on your face for a good 30-45 seconds. It sounds like a mess, but it’s really not. It’s an excellent exfoliator, and super gentle. Can be used daily, even on sensitive skin types.

Kiels Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado- This is an excellent no frills eye cream. It is so so so so SO! moisturizing, and because of the avocado, it’s green! Pretty cool. It’s a heavier eye cream, so it’s best used at night before bed.

Tokyo Milk Dark Shea Butte Handcreme in Excess-I love anything that looks nice sitting on your vanity, or pulling out of your purse. But aesthetics aside, it’s a really great hand lotion. And it smells like patchouli, which I love.

Tokyo Milk Dark Lip Balm in Salted Caramel- I’m a lip balm fanatic, especially when they come in metal tins. This one was too pretty to pass up, and the flavor is salted caramel, which sort of sounds sweet, but it’s quite the opposite. It’s an extremely smokey flavor, sort of like a log cabin. Weird description, I know, but my boyfriend will tell you I love anything that smells/tastes like a log cabin, maybe that’s very lumberjack of me, but I don’t care.

Butter London Handbag Holiday Cuticle Oil-I love applying cuticle oil throughout the day to keep my manicure looking nice. I’m a huge butter london fan, and I love that the applicator is a little brush (like regular nail polish) which eliminates the mess. Also, it smells like coconuts, so…..

These are the makeup brushes I use on the daily

L to R:

Real Techniques Blush Brush-I use it for applying loose setting powder

Mac 217- I use this as a blending brush and a crease brush

Mac 130- I use this duo fibre brush to apply cream blush

Trish McEvoy 2B blush brush- I use this to apply blush, obviously

Real Techniques Buffing Brush-I apply my liquid foundation with this brush. It’s amazing!

Mac 263- I use this brush to apply gel liner

Mac 239-I use this to pack eyeshadow on the lid.

Mac 109-I use this brush to contour my cheekbones

(These products are all Mac)

Harmony, painterly, cork, mulch, sumptuous olive, woodwinked

Mac lipstick in Hue-classic mac shade. This color is my perfect nude.

Giorgio Armani Gloss in Beige-Love this lipgloss so much. It dries down to a lipstick like consistency, but stays shiny like a gloss. Lasts forever.

Top L to R:

Anastasia Brow Duo in Medium Ash-Hands down best brow powder. Can’t live without it.

Bobbi Brown Blush in Peony-It is a vibrant hot pink blush that looks gorgeous on anybody. Picture is not doing it justice.

Nars blush in Sex Appeal-Great for fair skinned gals like me, it is so light you think it won’t even show up on your skin, but it does! And it’s a beautiful peachy pink.

Bottom L to R:

Benefit Eye Bright-I use this along my waterline to brighten up my eyes, or as an inner corner highlight.

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara- Great stuff! It doesn’t go anywhere. Love it.

Bobbi Brown Peony, Nars Sex Appeal, Benefit Eye Bright

Top L to R:

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler-The best curler

Makeup Forever HD Powder- This stuff is a mess, but it’s worth it. Undetectable finishing powder, and it feels like silk.

Clinique Gel Liner in Black-I just love this formula.

Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation in Blush Ivory- I love this foundation. It has good coverage, but is never cakey, and it matches my skin absolutely perfectly.

Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Undereye Concealer in Porcelain 1-Best undereye concealer hands down. Waterproof, so it lasts long. Doesn’t settle into fine lines, and it is undetectable to the naked eye.

These are the best makeup remover wipes ever. They are as gentle as water.

C. Booth Multi-Action Body Lotion-I love this lotion because it contains AHA’s which exfoliate the skin as it moisturizes, and it contains antioxidants. The smell is very sweet, but I don’t hate it.

I am a perfume junkie, but these are my go-to scents

Clockwise:

Malin+Goetz Rum Tonic- This is the perfume version of their Dark Rum candle (which is my all time favorite and have burned through a few of them) It’s very spicy (as are all of these perfumes) It contains Bergamot, plum, rum, leather, amber and patchouli.

Tom Ford Black Orchid-Words can’t describe my love for this perfume. It’s just amazing. Very sexy. And I love the bottle. Contains notes of Bergamot, Citrus, Mandarin, Black Gardenia, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Lotus Wood, Orchid, Spicy Floral Accord, Orchid (Tom Ford Black Accord), Patchouli, Sandalwood, Incense, Vanilla.

Thierry Mugler Angel-In my opinion this is one of those perfumes that you either love it or you hate it. I obviously love it. Stupid name, but I still love it. Contains notes of Bergamot, Hedione, Helional, Honey, Dewberry, Red Berries, Vanilla, Caramel, Patchouli, Chocolate, Coumarin.

D&G #10 La Roue De La Fortune- This is a unisex fragrance, though it doesn’t smell very masculine to me. It’s very unique and I love the simplicity of the bottle. Contains notes of patchouli , gardenia, tuberose, benzoin, jasmine

Jack Black Lip Balm-Leave your house right now and buy one. I’m serious. My favorite is the Lavender Vanilla.

This one is kind of silly, but I am obsessed with pumpkin, and so I stocked up on these when they came out in the fall. No regrets. Except that I didn’t buy more.

Thanks for reading guys, questions or comments are always welcome
